Third placed Banbury United visit Kirkby Road on 1st January 2020 for a 3pm kick off as football for the new year gets underway.
The tough run of festive fixtures for Barwell continues with the visit of Banbury United. Since 14th December, as the table currently stands (29th December 2019), Barwell have played the teams in 4th, 5th and 7th with those in 3rd, 12th and 4th still to come by 7th January. The run of results, in the league, has seen 3 defeats for the Canaries with the last win coming on 7th December at home to St Ives Town. Last time out, on Boxing Day, Barwell went down 4-1 at Coalville Town.
Banbury are riding high and come in to this game with only 1 defeat in their last 8 games. That defeat was at home to current leaders Tamworth on 7th December. There have been wins against Alvechurch, Leiston, St Ives Town and, most recently, Stratford Town on 26th December. In those 8 games there has also been 3 draws in games against Coalville Town, Rushall Olympic and Lowestoft Town.
Over the last 15 games, Barwell are 11th in the league form table and Banbury are 10th. Barwell have accumulated 22 points in those 15 games and Banbury have 24. In those games Banbury have only conceded 13 games, joint lowest, whereas Barwell have conceded 30 which is 3rd highest.
Barwell will be without Jake Whitmore but, after his substitute appearance on Boxing Day, do have Jahvan Davidson-Miller back in contention.
Banbury United have recently signed Ravi Shamsi from Stratford Town, a real danger player for Stratford when we played them recently, and have good players such as Gio Rasulo, John Mills and Morgan Roberts in their ranks.
The game is a 3pm kick off on 1st January 2020. All support very welcome.
