I am delighted to announce that the RFU have invited us to apply for a sizeable grant as part of the legacy fund put aside for the Women’s World Cup in 2025. We are one of only four clubs in the whole of England to be invited to apply in 2023 and have been selected in recognition of our long commitment and support to women’s and girls rugby over many years. The fact that our plans for the extension are so far advanced has also helped our cause. We understand that we are the only club in the south of England being considered.
The grant is by no means a certainty but we are confident that we meet all the criteria for the award that will be announced in March 2023. If successful, we will be required to build the changing rooms by October 2023, meaning that we will need to adopt a phased approach in our build out.
Nigel Putner and the building sub-group are re-working the original plans and we will share them with you as soon as they are finalised. In the meantime, we need to justify our selection by showing the RFU that the whole club is behind the project and that we are all working together to make it a success. This is a great help to us but provides only part of the funding we will require to complete the ambitious upgrade we are striving for and further fund raising activities, grants, donations will still be required, but every penny we can find goes towards achieving our ambition.
Look out for more details of how you can help and make 2023 a standout year in the history of Beccehamian RFC. The work is already underway and the soak-away has already been partially dug out. Link to existing Beccs Build project details & how you can help here.
