Club confirm two new signings before tonight's cup tie.

Bedford Town Football Club can confirm the arrival of two new players, both of which have been registered with the Southern League in time for tonight's Bedfordshire Senior Cup tie against Crawley Green at the Bright Management Eyrie.

Firstly, we welcome striker Sam Akinde. Akinde spent his early career in non-league football with Kettering Town, Ebbsfleet United, Alfreton Town, Dover Athletic, Kingstonian, Hereford United, Welling United, Basingstoke Town and St Albans City.

He signed for Alfreton in September 2013 and was released by the club in February 2014 after making five appearances. He moved to Dover Athletic in March 2014, then Kingstonian, making five appearances in April 2014. He signed for Basingstoke Town in August 2015, and played for St Albans City between October and December 2015.

Akinde played several games on trial for Barnet's under-23 side throughout the 2016-17 season, and signed a one-year deal on 3 March 2017. He made his English Football League debut as a substitute against Wycombe Wanderers on 17 April 2017. Akinde was released by the Bees at the end of the 2016-17 season. He signed for Hemel Hempstead Town in October 2017. Akinde joined Margate in August 2018. This season, Sam has been with Tonbridge Angels, and has joined the Eagles on dual registration terms.

Secondly, we welcome Jamie Head. Jamie is a goalkeeper who has joined on dual registration terms from Cambridge City FC. He has previously been with AFC Dunstable, Dunstable Town, Biggleswade Town and Hemel Hempstead Town, where he has made 183 appearances over the past six seasons.

Speaking to the club's official website, Football Director Jon Taylor said "We are very excited to have signed an experienced keeper that has played at step three and four. Jamie is a player we have admired for a few years now, but have never been able to sign. Personally, I feel that Jamie will be an integral part of our squad and plans going forward this season and hopefully beyond."

Taylor continued "He is a fantastic shot stopper and is very comfortable in the six yard area. He is very accurate with his kicking from dead ball situations and also from his hands. He is a keeper who will relish the challenge and we are hopeful that he will grasp the number one shirt."

Finally, the club can confirm we have de-registered goalkeeper Aaron Dillon. We would like to thank Aaron for his efforts whilst with the Eagles, and wish him all the best for the future.
