Bedford Town Football Club is delighted to welcome the signing of Rob Sinclair. The 30 year old midfielder arrives at the Eyrie with a portfolio of football league experience. Having been born in Bedford, Rob had a successful youth development with Luton Town and graduated to a professional contract in 2007.
After a stint on loan at Salisbury City, he then joined the whites on a permanent basis in 2008 and after making 54 appearances in two and a half years, he moved on to Stevenage FC. At Broadhall Way, he went on to secure promotion to League One in his first season before spending time on loan at Aldershot Town.
Sinclair then returned to Salisbury City, winning promotion to the Conference Premier during the 2012/13 season. He left Salisbury in June 2014, signing for Forest Green Rovers, helping them earn promotion to the Football League during the 2016–17 season. As he looked to start his business outside of football, Sinclair elected to play semi-professionally for Oxford City and then in November 2018 joined Hemel Hempstead Town.
We are also delighted to confirm that Rob has signed a one year contract with the Eagles, keeping him with us until May 2021.
Speaking to www.bedfordeagles.net, owner Jon Taylor said "Securing the signature of Rob is something that we have been working all summer on. I'm delighted that he has agreed to join the club, and commit himself to the Eagles for the season by signing a contract. His years of experience in the National League and Football League will be invaluable to the side, and also develop the younger players in the squad greatly. "
Commenting further, Manager Mark Ducket said "I'm absolutely delighted to get Rob signed to the club for the new season. His arrival underlines the ambition of the club's intent, along with the other additions we have made. His CV speaks volumes and we fought off competition from other local clubs to get his signature. He is a local man who has great footballing values."
Ducket continued "He will be a big influence, not only to the dressing room, but younger players also. Huge thanks to go Jon, who yet again, has backed my vision and the club's long term plan. It's been a long time coming, but I'm delighted it's now done and dusted, and we can concentrate on the return of football soon."
