Midfielder Sam Evans to join from Welshpool Town

The club are delighted to announce that Welshpool Town captain Sam 'Dodge' Evans has agreed to join the club for the 2020/2021 season.

The 20 year old tenacious midfielder, who will officially join once the FAW registration window opens, represents a major coup for the club and a signal of intent ahead of the new campaign.

Evans said 'It was time for a change for myself, and Berriew was the perfect club. I know DJ and a lot of the players, and I cant wait to get started and hopefully help the side win more silverware'

Manager David Jones said 'Dodge is someone I have watched since he was in junior football and who I have tried to sign a couple of times over the past few years. I was delighted when he contacted me recently to tell me he wanted to join, he is certainly keen to come onboard and he will undoubtedly make us stronger'.

With the restructuring of Tier 3 this summer, the 2020/2021 season promises to be a tough one with the club both hopeful and confident of being included in the new FAW Tier 3 North East league which will include a combination of the strongest sides from the Mid Wales League and the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area).

Jones said 'We are hopeful that we will be included in the new FAW Tier 3 league and we need to be ready. With the exception of Charlie Humphreys who has left for Abermule, I have spoken to all of the current players and they all have committed to stay next season. So with Dodge joining, and Bailee James Austin and Richard Davies returning from injury I believe we are building a very strong and competitive squad ahead of the new season'.
