On a wet afternoon, Bibury AFC took Hellenic Division West Division One New College Academy by surprise by hammering the team three divisions higher than their hosts in a resounding 8-2 victory.
With players returning from injury and holiday, Bibury Manager Andy Ealey had plenty of players to pick from and had a squad of 15 for the game.
Josh Oldland, Gary Heaven, Dom O'Neill, Sam Heaney, Brock Hammond and Scott Garrett all came back into squad with Chris Avery missing out again due to sickness the morning of the game.
The Gloucestershire outfit started out with a 4-4-2 formation with Garrett and Day forming a forward partnership at the tip of the side.
Goalkeeper Simon Randlesome, Alex Hiscock, Will Hooton, kept their places in a starting eleven which still had three-four players away on holiday and returning from injury.
Bibury started off the better during this encounter with Archie Day and Scott Garrett performing a mature battling display against a young New College back four with both players grabbing goals in this match. Both were impressive and even a New College resurgence along with a freakish second goal saw Bibury go into he half time break 3-2 up.
In the second period Bibury really started to relax their play and their fitness shone through against a young inferior team. Further Goals from Outram, O'Neill and a penalty from sub Heaven put Bibury in full control and the Gloucestershire Northern Senior Side put the game in doubt by claiming the 8-2 victory.
Hammond, Ingham, and Heaven all appeared off the bench in the second half and proved their worth providing Manager Ealey with a selection headache heading into the cup opener against Harrow Hill only weeks away.
The Manager commented afterwards "Against a team three divisions higher, we looked in complete control and in the end recorded a very comfortable victory. We spoke during the week about starting off the 90 minutes well and the players showing me and Steven what they are about and to ultimately secure a place in our starting 11 when the season starts."
