Biggleswade entered a local clash against Hitchin Town, aiming to secure vital points to help kickstart their league campaign.

We also said goodbye to our assistant manager Joe Howe, who over the last four years has played and been part of our backroom staff. We wish him all the best as he moves up to Scotland with his family.

Opponents Hitchin, fresh from their first league win under interim manager Michael Jones, brought strong away support, yet it was Biggleswade who showed early energy and creativity, pressuring Hitchin’s defense and dominating possession.

An even first ten minutes saw Biggleswade’s set pieces testing Hitchin as well as tensions rising resulting in cautions for Hitchin’s Sambou and Panter.

22 minutes in, a goalmouth scramble from the Waders couldn't quite be poked home, but Biggleswade continued to press.

Hitchin did have a few smaller moments in the Waders half, but their rare shots were easily managed by the Biggleswade defence.

In the 28th minute, Babaie's shot was saved smartly close in front of goal.

Eventually, two minutes later, Biggleswade got the chance they had been looking for.

Babaie received the ball at the tightest angle, sliding to reach out for the ball and guiding it into the back of the net with the sweetest of finishes.

Hitchin were next to go close and had a shot in the 43rd minute, but Berman was there to save, allowing the Waders to go into halftime leading the game 1-0.

In the second half, Biggleswade's defensive organization was evident as they thwarted Hitchin’s efforts to equalize.

Though Hitchin eventually found a late equalizer through Ciaren Jones, Biggleswade could be proud, having dominated much of the game and defending resolutely, the game ending with the points shared at 1-1.
