Last evening saw the first visit of Histon to Langford Road, playing at this level. They, like the Waders had a opening day setback loosing out to Frome who Biggleswade visit this Saturday, so a game with all to play for.

Largely unchanged from Saturday's starting line up, Biggleswade came out the blocks the quicker of the two teams. Early pressure did not count as lively new boy Stuart Farrell troubled the visiting defence. Histon from long range served notice of their intent to score from distance as Mateusz Kuzimski let fly one of a host of shots that peppered the match and tested our man Brown on several occasions. Farrell was certainly the pick of the bunch and looks a very able replacement for the departed Brett Donnelly. On sixteen, A Max York throw found Steve Gentle's head and a flick backwards found Evan Key to nod home from close range. A good early start and certainly the Waders started to play some stylish football with debutant Ian Rees busy in the midfield. The teams went in at half time with Biggleswade the more likely.

The walls are thin at the Langford Road Stadium and it was reported back that an old fashioned team talk by the Histon manager was in progress, not decipherable by word more volume. Whatever he said worked as Histon started to pile on the pressure and shots coming "Brownward" were becoming the norm. Waders also created chances and on another day might have been goals to the good but a series of chances went begging or into the grateful arms of Enol Ordunez in goal for Histon. At the other end hero turned villain , Evan Key bundled over Ben Sawer for the referee to award a penalty. Kuzimski made no mistake sending our man the wrong way. It was anybody's game as Biggleswade pressed to grab those first three points of the season, Histon had the same thoughts bringing out the best in our man with one full length dive pushing the ball round the post with his fingernails. Another opportunity seconds later crashed the bar, the Wader's defence living on a knife edge. Try as they may Biggleswade could not get the touch. An honourable draw was a fair result but it was pleasing to see the Waders up their game from Saturday.
