BANBURY UNITED 2 v BIGGLESWADE TOWN 2

Circumstances have not been in our favour of late, hours before kick off and for a variety of reasons first team players were unavailable for this important game. Bottom of the table Banbury needed a win, Waders needed a boost to confidence levels and yet another body blow as Allinson, Morgan, Ives and Edwards all had to cry off. With the side set to go the first thirty minutes were one sided, fortunately, our side. Jon Woolf put Biggleswade in front when a mix up with the keeper outside his are left the ball kindly at Our Jon's feet and able to measure a tap into the back of the net. Goal line technology does not arrive at level three for sometime to come but a great shout saw Gentle head the ball over the line only for it to be over ruled. Down at the other end Steve Gentle did score but for Banbury after a mix up in the area. At 1-1 all to play for as the rain started.

Out for the second 45 and controversy followed shortly as Cam Mawer dismissed after handling the ball close to the goal line as he lay prostrate on the floor. The resulting penalty by Walcott was saved brilliantly by our man Brown and hacked away for a corner. The corner came in and after the heroics Banbury's Tom Ryan leapt above the crowd of players to head Banbury into the lead. Down to ten, a goal down, the rain persistent, did not look good but with true Wader grit the team stuck to the task and Josh Beech somehow scrambled a goal on seventy five minutes to level things up. Cut and thrust came from both teams in search of the extra points a win would bring. But with both sides suffering season blues no clear chances were created and at the end the players relieved to go into the warmth of the changing room.

Manager Nunn had a positive aspect on the game and we went away with a point, some cheer as we all made our way back to Bedfordshire. Saturday the long trip to the seaside at Weymouth. At least it gets us out of Christmas shopping!!
