Perhaps all the emotion and energy were used up on Saturday with the monumental game against Leamington and playing so soon did not really give the guys time to recover. There was certainly no carnival atmosphere, the early morning rain and overcast skies certainly damped down what is normally a very enthusiastic encounter for players and spectators alike.

It all started so well with the Waders claiming the early honours, keeping Saints in their own half. The booking of Mark Coulson on 13 was quickly followed by a red to Brett Longden for a foul on Callum Lewis. From there on a succession of cards marked a game that was "not like that" With Saints down to ten so early a re-shuffle saw a change in the game as the home side took the upper hand. On 36 Ryan Hawkins beat two to fire home and take the advantage. Waders lost even more ground as Ryan Frater clattered his brother, playing for the Saints and received the second red of the day. Hopefully Mum Frater will have clipped both their ears, and bed with no tea. Events were really slow and the half time whistle came 6 minutes late to prolong the agony for both sides.

Out for the second 45 and the relentless carding continued to frustrate the play and players. Tom Meechan doubled the lead on sixty four despite offside appeals from the Wader's defence but the goal stood and it was always going to be uphill from there. Despite a change of 3 players, Hill, Iwediuno and Davies all off, a precaution as all three had yellow cards, to be replaced by Burnett, King and Ryan Blackman. The lively Burnett added some power upfront but his two attempts went perilously close but not close enough, making it a Saints day.
