Playing two midweek games as well as a Saturday since the end of March is really starting to show and the Ton produced a lacklustre performance against promotion chasing Willand as they went down to a 1-0 defeat.
After Thursday good win at Bridport Bitton were once again struggling for numbers and again had to play with no recognized strikers. At least this time and despite them being fully fit they were able to name two substitutes.
Both sides exchanged a few long range efforts in a quiet opening spell before the game came to life on 25 minutes. Bitton were forced into and early chance as Jack Allward had to be replaced by Ibz Dialla and then following a earlier little scuffle Willand Karl Rickard & Bitton keeper Ben John clashed waiting for a corner and both were shown straight Rec cards meaning Bitton would play the remainder of the game with no recognised keeper. Jordan Walker was handed the gloves and performed well as neither side really managed to create and clear cut chancres
HT-Bitton 0-0 Willand
Bitton sluggish perfomance was perhaps understandable as they had some very tired bodies and are languishing in mid table but with a promotion spot still up for grabs you would have expected Willand to show a bit more enthusiasm as the second half became a real non event as Both sides looked ready for their summer holiday. The away side perhaps showed why they have been so successful as despite playing at their best they ground out a clean sheet and nicked that all important goal as Fletcher Williams fired home from the edge of the box. Kane Ingram created two good chances for himself but couldn't find a finish as they slumped to their 3rd defeat in four games.
