“Saturdays game v Anselmians will not only be the last game of the season but it will mark the end of 10th year and season I have played at Blackburn and sadly it will be the last time I pull on the blue and red and go out onto Ramsgreave drive. I have decided to move onto pastures new, it has not been a decision I have taken lightly but I feel the time is right.
I have had the best ten years at Blackburn a place I love and have called home , I have made some of the best friendships which will last a lifetime and shared some of my fondest memories here. I joined in the 14/15 league winning season as a 23 year old aspiring prop and I leave a 34 year old veteran. It's been one hell of a ride and there a few people I want to mention who helped me massively along the way.
Starting with John Morgan and Chris Heyton my first coaches down at Blackburn who really welcomed me and helped me massively in my first years here. Greg and Tlav who I feel under their watch I really excelled and played my best rugby under, also them not only being my coaches but I'm glad I can call them my friends. Thankyou all the players good and bad I have played with over the years (there is too many to mention). To all the spectators, physios, bar and catering staff , back room staff, anyone who gives up there time to come and be a part of Blackburn. And to last but not least Dino Radice the man who got me down to Blackburn I want to thank you so much for taking a punt on me as a young 23 old and getting me down and making Blackburn my home. You've gifted me with all the above and I will always be grateful to you but I'm also grateful we become and will continue to be great friends.
I am sad to say goodbye and sad my last season hasn't been the best for us as a team but I have no doubt with the group of young players coming through and the top coaching they have that this group will be keep growing and being successful. I won't be a stranger and will be down watching when I can.
Thankyou Blackburn
Love Benny C”
