Rugby at Blackburn is about taking part, having fun, and keeping active. We cater for youngsters at Grassroots level and aim to teach the skills and understanding of rugby. Not only do children benefit from the physically active sport but rugby contributes to their personal development. We also aim to motivate them to play rugby into adulthood.
Newcomers are always welcome irrespective of their level of skill or experience.
Training is on various evening or on Sundays, across the Mini & Youth section, so please speak to the relevent Age Grade Team manager, noted below to find out more. Games or training are on Sundays from around 10:00am. (occasionally may vary)

HOW CAN I JOIN?

WHERE & WHEN?
All training is based at the Club’s ground, Ramsgreave Drive, Blackburn, BB1 8NB.
Mini and Youth Rugby takes place on Sundays. The under 7s to under 16s train and play matches in the morning. Player’s age groups are determined by their age at midnight on 31st August. Age Group can also be equated to school year with Under 16s being Year 11, Under 15s Year 10, etc.
Unless the group is playing away, training and club fixtures normally start at 10.30am and finish about 12.30pm. Food will be provided after matches only.
WHO CAN JOIN?
Anyone keen on, committed to, or just interested in rugby is welcome at BRUFC.
Our under 7s to Under 11s welcome both boys and girls, whatever their background and / or experience.
The youth teams (Under 12s upwards) play as boys’ teams.
WHO RUNS MINI AND YOUTH?
Mini and Youth is run by parents whose children are playing in M&Y teams and they have very kindly volunteered their time.
COACHING
The Club ensures coaches hold suitable RFU coaching certificates and a suitable level of rugby coaching is provided ensuring fair play and safety at all times.
SAFEGUARDING
The Safeguarding Officer is Alex Newman.
All coaches are DBS checked and have completed the RFU ‘Introduction to Safeguarding’ module.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
At BRUFC, we charge an annual membership fee. £210 for juniors or £180 for siblings and BRUFC members. Payment in full £210 or £40 registration fee in September followed by 8 instalments of £21.25
