Blackpool welcome Ormskirk back to Fleetwood Road

A little over two years ago, an exciting league season and a promotion spot came down to two teams. Blackpool and Ormskirk 2s. Ormskirk reigned supreme that day and were promoted whilst that Blackpool team decided to exit the NOWIRUL set up and enter the RFU leagues as a bonafide first team.

Since then, a lot has changed for both clubs and tomorrow they meet again. Blackpool now field two teams and it is the Second XV who face the visitors from West Lancashire off the back of a first win since the reformation.

Ormskirk come into the game having started relatively well with a big win on opening day vs Burnley and then a concede victory last week as Preston 5s were unable to travel. The results see Ormskirk sitting one place above Blackpool in the league with just two point separating them.

For Blackpool, they are able to name a similar side to the one that got the job done last week. Stu Joyce moves into the front row and is joined by the Gruffalo Mark Roper either side of the Loch Ness Monster Troy Johnstone. They are being held together in the second row by the embodiment of little and large, as the BFG (Big Friendly Ginger) Tristan Ainscough returns alongside Joe Dodd. In the backrow there is a debut for Anthony Cawley, who joins vice captain 'The Martini Kid' Maly Richardson and Captain Brad Clark at number 8.

In the backs, Chris Marsh continues at Scrum Half, whilst at 10 Blackpool have been forced to swap one portly gentleman in Leon Mason (out with what I can only assume is a kebab related injury) with another as former Ormskirk 2nd team captain (he never mentions it) Adam Glover comes in for some much needed minutes having been allergic to training for the last 3 weeks.

In the centres there is no change with Gavin Kelly and Adam Jacobs hoping to continue where they left off last week and they are flanked on the wings once more by youngster Maddox Blyth and the returning James Wade. New signing Bailey Turner goes again at full back.

George Bamber's reward for a rare try last weekend is the bench because the jokes just don't work if he starts scoring regularly and he is joined by Pete Farrington, Tom Bailey, Joni Alcock and potentially Lucas Crosbie if manages to overcome his fear of matchdays.

There promises to be a decent crowd for this one with the first team lads down to support as touchline barbarians in the absence of a fixture this weekend. Kick off is at 3pm and the bar is open from 1pm. So sack the shopping off and get down the club to cheer the boys on. The World Cup games will also be shown throughout the day. Its a no brainer.
