Gedling looked composed from the off but with all the bossing of the ref and hollering for every decision, Stones remained focused on the game and defended resolutely and broke quickly when the chance presented itself. With Waumsley leading the charge with Edmundson backed up by the 5 midfielders each near miss allowed the confidence to grow and at half time both defences had frustrated both attacks.
The second half resumed with Waumsley, again charging at the home defence, hauled to the ground by the full-back the official deemed the challenge “no foul” and the home team raced straight up the park and won a penalty when the player was hauled to the ground. Stones continued the battle until the final whistle but could not break through and snatch the equaliser.
