MATCH PREVIEW: Boldon CA FC v West Auckland Tunns

MATCH PREVIEW: Boldon CA FC v West Auckland Tunns

Gavin Henderson21 Apr 2021 - 13:00

Boldon CA FC take on West Auckland Tunns tonight in the Alan Hood Charity Cup - their first home game of 2021.

Boldon CA FC are hoping to win their first game back at the Boldon Colliery Welfare Ground tonight (19:30pm kick off) when West Auckland Tunns travel to South Tyneside in the second group game of the Alan Hood Charity Cup.

The Villa drew 1-1 away at FC Hartlepool on Saturday, with Levi Collins getting on the scoresheet, and CA manager David Crumbie is hoping his side can return to winning ways with a victory against our visitors from Durham this evening.

"It’s always nice to win games, and we did really well before the lockdown," he said.

"We are just happy to be playing again, to be honest.

"We want to win every game, and we will certainly work hard to do that tonight."

Crumbie is without a host of first-team regulars this evening - with Andy Hunter, Jonny Wightman, Alex McBeth and Aaron Williams amongst those missing - but Boldon are still expecting to a field a strong, competitive side in what is sure to be a tough fixture.

Whilst West Auckland suffered a heavy defeat against Darlington Railway Athletic on Saturday, they're a combative side, and gave Boldon a good game when the two sides met in the Wearside League back in November.

The Boldon CA Colliery Welfare Ground has undergone a bit of a makeover during the lockdown break, though supporters won't be able to experience it just yet.

"We have had new fencing put up and added some extra seating", said Crumbie. "We still have work to do in terms of painting to spruce things up, but at the moment it’s looking good."

Fans still aren't able to attend games under the current government rules, but the Boldon boss insists that it's not causing any distractions.

"It’s a strange feeling playing every game behind closed doors.

"But it is what it is, and we would rather do that than not play at all."

Coverage of tonight's game will be provided live on our Twitter page - head across to Twitter.com/CABoldon to keep up with all the action from 19:30pm.
