Club History

Bonnyrigg Rose Ladies formed in May 2022. Having previously competed as an under 18’s team, upon the conclusion of the season, the management team took the decision to make the step up to women’s football. The club were accepted to enter the Biffa SWFL and in the process, becoming the first senior ladies team in the Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club’s history.

The club finished 2nd in the East regional division in their maiden season, only behind Livingston FC’s development side.

The following season it was announced that a Pyramid structure would be implemented to create a pathway which would allow teams to be promoted through the leagues and potentially all the way to the top tier of Scottish Women’s football. A mini season was announced running from January to May with promotion up for grabs, this would also allow the regional divisions to realign with the SWF League One, Championship, SWPL 1 &2.

The club competed in the Biffa SWFL East region for a 2nd season, ultimately finishing 2nd once again runners up to Livingston Development. Due to league rules prohibiting development teams being promoted, Rose secured a promotion play off place. In June 2023 Rose defeated Harmony Row of the Biffa SWFL West 4-0 to secure promotion to SWF League One after only 14 months since the clubs formation.

The club are currently in their second season in SWF League One having secured a 4th place finish in our debut season in the division.
