Rose secure signing of exciting young forward

We’re delighted to announce the signing of forward Rebecca Murray following the expiry of her contract at SWFL Regional side Edinburgh South.

“Bex” played for Boroughmuir, Hibs and Hearts at youth level but it would be at another Capital club where she would make the step up to women’s football. Having joined Edinburgh City, initially as a trialist, Bex signed for the Meadowbank club in October 2023 and made her senior debut for the SWF Championship side against Rossvale at just 15 years old.

Her time at City was cut short due to the clubs off field issues which led them to withdrawing from the league in December 2023 but she would soon be back on the pitch joining Edinburgh South in the SWFL East Regional league in January 2024. Bex spent the second half of the season at South and went on to score her first senior goal, still only 15 years old.

Upon the conclusion of the 2023/24 season and the expiry of her contract at Edinburgh South, we were delighted to welcome Bex along to pre season training where she would be reunited with ex City team mates Charlotte, Gabby, Niamh and Kaz. Bex impressed immediately on the training pitch with her pace, skill and eye for goal and she didn’t take long to showcase those attributes in a match as she came off the bench against Dunfermline to score two and assist another in a 3-3 draw just days after her 16th birthday.

We’re delighted that Bex has decided to continue her development at Bonnyrigg and we’re excited to see more of her in the Rose colours this season. Bex becomes our second summer signing following the addition of midfielder Kayla Burgess.

Welcome to the club, Bex!
