Bookham started the game brightly, creating a few chances, however struggled to adapt to the poor conditions of the boggy pitch.
Bookham did however take a deserved lead, following a through ball from Alex Ball, to Jex Crute, who controlled well to go through one on one with the keeper and finish, to put Bookham ahead. 1-0 to Bookham.
West Byfleet created a few chances themselves and will have felt disappointed not to have gone level, however Josh Grinter pulled off a number of saves, including an acrobatic right handed save at full stretch following a Byfleet corner.

In the second half, the game became more stretched, with both teams pressing for the second goal of the game.
At the attacking end Chris Gibbons came close on a few occasions, as did Alex Ranger who was introduced at half time. Liam Openshaw was also unlucky not to be awarded a penalty, being felled inside the box.
Defensive wise, Bookham were solid at the back, with Gibbons, Steel, Fuller and Kendal all providing blocks and tackles to deny the pressing Byfleet side. On the occasions where the defence was breached, Josh Grinter remained solid to keep the home side at bay, pulling off a number of top quality saves.
