Vics v Woodthorpe Park Rangers

Vics v Woodthorpe Park Rangers

Alan Ure21 Aug 2024 - 20:18

The Vics Go For Five Wins In A Row!

Borrowash Victoria Mens 1st Team face Woodthorpe Park Rangers in the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division at the Anderson Electrical Arena.
The lads go for 5 straight victories at the start of the season for the first time in over 25 years. This would also match the great start to the league campaign in the 22-23 season however the Vics had already lost to Ruddington in the League Cup before the 5th League game.
The match sees the new management team of Gaz Smith, Jeff Baldwin and Kevin Smith in their 5th competitive game with the Vics and are looking to continue the fantastic start which has allowed a feeling of optimism to creep in at the AEA.
We have faced Woodthorpe 4 times over the last 2 seasons with Vics winning both matches during the 22-23 season, 2-1 and 3-0 and Woodthorpe completing the double over Vics with almost identical scorelines, 2-1 and 3-1 so this game is set up nicely!
Woodthorpe have had a mixed start to the season with 2 defeats to Keyworth United and Awsworth Villa however a stunning 9-1 victory last Saturday against Radcliffe Olympic shows how dangerous they can be, coupled with their results over us last season the lads are in no doubt a tough task lies ahead.
Vics have only one survivor from the last meeting of the teams potentially in the squad for this Saturday, Jacob Hawksworth, who has looked impressive so far this season and with a more settled and experienced squad the lads go into this match full of confidence.
Some highlights so far this season are some fine, well taken goals by Jordan Lee, Josh Lawrence and the living legend that is Cabbage, not forgetting a spectacular 1st half hatrick from 17 year old Mason Tudgay v FC Sez last Friday night. Mason and Cabbage are joint top scorers with 3 goals apiece closely followed by Lawrence, Lee and Dean Oliver on 2 each.
The team have looked well organised with some solid displays from the lads at the back and, indeed, are growing in confidence with every game!
So if you would like to come along and support the Vics you will be made more than welcome, we rely on our supporters to make the club sustainable and hopefully we can reward you with some great football and entertainment.
Match is a 3pm kick off at the Anderson Electrical Arena, Borrowash Road, Spondon DE21 7PH, bar is open with some nice beers, wines and soft drinks, not to mention a warm welcome! See you there

WE ARE VICS!!!!
