BCFC travelled to Pointon in the second league game of the season, looking to take all 3 points and to make it 2 wins from 2.
College started with a very strong XI as more of the lads were finally available after the summer holiday spells! College started very brightly and were soon creating chances with 4 good opportunities created in the opening 10 minutes, all were squandered though!
It soon became apparent that Pointon were very happy for BCFC to have to ball, never pressing any defender (or the GK) when we had the ball. This naturally slowed the pace of the game down and College struggled to inject enough pace at the right moments, leading to a very frustrating further 30 minutes as College comfortably controlled the play bit simply didn’t do enough with the ball.
At the 40 minute mark, College finally got the break through and then got the second 3 minutes later. At the break 2-0 but at least we were off the mark!
More pace, energy and attacking purpose called for at the break. And that’s what we got. Goals 3-7 were added by the final whistle and BCFC got their Goal Difference up nicely as well as the all-important 3 points.
Man of the Match was a tough call as in truth no player had a great game, but several stood out. Buts was back for the weekend and was solid as ever at CB. Bourne picked up his debut for BCFC and did all the dirty work well. Bakes worked tirelessly up top being the key provider of the day notching 3 assists. But it was Riv who stole the medal this week, bagging 4 goals and 1 assist, including one for the memory banks; a delightful chip from outside the area, sitting the keeper firmly on his arse!
Next week a much tougher test as we travel again, this time to Eagle Utd.
