BOURTON ROVERS closed the gap on the leaders in the Hellenic Div Two West in real style on Tuesday evening when hitting 10 goals past Clanfield 85 Reserves.
With Adam Webley and Charlie Vinton back for Bourton, the game started off at a high tempo.
The deadlock was broken after 15 minutes when Sam Mattock smashed a volley in from the edge of the 18-yard box.
Five further first-half goals followed quickly for Bourton, whose high-pressing tactics didn't allow Clanfield to play from the back, although the hosts kept trying to play and were rewarded with a goal just before the break.
Bourton started the second half on the front foot and scored within the opening two minutes via an excellent finish by Connor Teague.
Bourton then conceded a sloppy goal as Clanfield continued to press.
Bourton subsequently added four more goals before the finish.
Bourton scorers: Adam Webley (4); Connor Teague (3), Sam Mattock (2) and Keelan Gilbert.
Manager Scott Powles was delighted to take three points back to Bourton. "It was an excellent performance and good to see us on the front foot throughout," he said.
"It was also good for the returning players to get valuable minutes on the pitch."
