Having won 9 from 10 this season, the u13 Stags were rightly confident arriving for the County final Vs Wokingham at Purley on Thames on Friday night.
Losing the toss and batting first, the boys clearly let the occasion get to them, the free flowing stroke play and eager running of the summer so far giving way to a more tentative, nervous approach across the side. Only Will and Armaan made double figures as our boys were knocked over for 82, by a side whose accurate bowlers were backed up by excellent fielding.
In reply our boys were never in the game, a couple of late wickets scant consolation for the heartache of not performing on the big stage.
This will be a great learning experience for the boys, as well as the coaching staff, and we look forward to the rest of the league season, and if we perform as we have done, we could have a shot at making the league finals.
Well done lads and coaches for bringing the magic of a cup run to the Hill, we look forward to many more in the future.
