The Blue Imps Cruise Past Win-Less Wanderer's

The Blue imps made the short Journey over to Humber Doucy Lane on a rainy Tuesday evening. Under the guidance of experienced defender Mark Goldfinch Wanderers started the brighter almost going 1-0 up when left back Dan Knight whipped in a cross - cum - shot that evaded everyone included the far post.

This spurred the Imps into life when Michael Brothers through pass found Ben Newson free in the 18 yard box and he finished in style beating former Imps GK Spurling in the Wanderers goal. The 2nd followed soon after when the same combination linked up, with Brothers long throw to the back post found Ben Newson again and the winger hooked home a speculative volley into the far corner of the net.
After a period of sustained pressure Michael Brothers gave way to Sub Sean Mathurin with a Hamstring injury forcing MJB off. Mathurin was straight into the action forcing Spurling into action with a smart save. The 3rd goal came after good work from Newson drawing a foul from the Wanderers Centre Half, the referee pointed immediately to the spot. The resultant spot kick dispatched confidently by Craig Hughes.

The second half was much the same with Brantham on the front foot for most of the half. Sean Mathurin again causing problems for the home defence with his hold up play impressing. He again drew an smart save from Spurling who was by far the busier of the 2 goalkeepers on the night. Hawkins in the Imps goal was a spectator for much of the game, with the impressive Brantham backline limiting Wanderers to long range shots . The 4th goal was always a case of when as opposed to if , as Brantham's game management and ball retention was impressive. The 4th goal did eventually come when Jack Smith was found by an audacious touch from Ben Newson and the big midfielder volleyed home impressively from 8 yards out.

All in all a very professional display from the Imps who continued their recent fine form. Managers Carmichael & Brothers leaving the Lane happy with the performance.

Man of the Match - Michael Murray - an accomplished and professional performance in a game where Muzz was relatively untroubled but was the rock that the team could build its performance from.
