BRANTHAM Athletic continued their free-scoring ways as they romped to a 5-0 victory at home to Fakenham Town, in the Thurlow Nunn League premier division on Saturday.
They created two chances in the opening three minutes, through Sean Gunn and Sam Newson.
Gunn was just about to unleash his shot when a defender made a last-ditch challenge.
Sam Newson then got past his marker and lobbed the keeper, but saw his effort go just over.
Brantham continued to press and won a corner, taken by Craig Hughes.
It was met by Jack Smith, whose header rattled the bar.
After a couple more chances, Ben Newson broke the deadlock after a lovely through ball by Sean Mathurin.
He took two touches before calmly slotting past the advancing keeper.
More chances followed for Brantham.
Sam Newson had a goal disallowed for a dubious offside, after a quick Hughes free-kick.
Mathurin also had a good chance to make it two when his header somehow stayed out, following a cross fromSam Newson
The second half started evenly with few chances for either side.
Brantham then found their cutting edge and Sam Newson netted with ease, after great play down the left between Ed Nobbs and Gunn.
Five minutes later, the Imps went 3-0 up.
A Fakenham defender passed the ball across his own box and Sean Gunn nipped in to poke the ball home through the keeper’s legs.
A further two goals in the final ten minutes made the scoreline comfortable.
Jack Smith capitalised following a corner that the defence failed to clear and his shot flashed past the keeper into the bottom corner.
The final goal came after a ball over the top.
The Fakenham keeper lost it in the sun and missed the ball completely, allowing Sean Bartlett to tap into an empty net.
