Brigg welcome Shirebrook to The Hawthorns on Saturday. This will be Brigg’s first game in a couple of weeks – there was no game last week. Their previous match was a close one against Nostell Miners Welfare. Although Brigg were the better side, Nostell scraped a 2-1 victory. Brigg’s results haven’t reflected their performances this season.
In September Brigg played okay at Shirebrook only to lose 4-1. A similar performance will surely lead to a better outcome this time. It’s not happening for Brigg at the moment, but their luck will improve. The club believe this and will never quit no matter what. Quitters never win and winners never quit.
The squad have three out and four in. The ones out are Chris Short, Jamie Leech and Chris Rodgers. Owen Fletcher, Tom Pearson, Jonathan O’Callaghan and Josh Fawcett are the ones in. Fawcett made three appearances before his injury in September. He has now fully recovered which is ideal. Changes will be made to Brigg’s line up – this is guaranteed with different personnel.
Shirebrook are currently fifth in the NCEL Division One. They’re having a good season and will be challenging opponents. They also have the league’s top scorer Kieran Watson. Watson has scored 27 goals this season including a brace against Brigg. Taking everything into account, it will be very difficult to beat them. To stand any chance Brigg must play as well as possible.
The Zebras are ready for a stern test.
