To promote an environment where every player feels supported, respected, and valued, Brighton Rogues Hockey Club has a "Nothing Too Small" policy. We are reinforcing this approach by introducing a new, confidential online safeguarding form.
This year, England Hockey has put a spotlight on safeguarding, and new procedures and policies have been introduced to ensure the safety and well-being of every player across the UK. At Brighton Rogues, we’ve tailored our safeguarding measures to fit our unique culture, keeping them straightforward, solution-focused, and aligned with our charter, constitution, and code of conduct.
Our aim is to build strong player relationships, by clearing up misunderstandings quickly and dealing with any concerns sensitively. Communication challenges can occur in any team, especially one as diverse as ours, but if we can address any worries and potential difficulties early, we can prevent them from escalating into larger, unmanageable issues.
The new BRHC online safeguarding form is designed to allow anyone in the club to raise any concerns—no matter how small—about their own welfare or that of their teammates. The form is designed to capture any worries a member might have, from minor issues to more serious concerns, and can be completed anonymously if preferred. Our safeguarding officer assesses any and all submissions in confidence.
Every member can feel confident that any concerns will be heard and handled fairly. We have reviewed our safeguarding and disciplinary procedures to ensure they are transparent and impartial, and we’ve implemented measures to eliminate conflicts of interest and bias. We are focused on finding solutions, which means that we prioritise mediation to resolve issues amicably and aim to avoid escalation whenever possible. Any actions taken are proportionate to the severity of the circumstances, and we are committed to ensuring that everyone involved is fully supported.
At Brighton Rogues HC, the well-being of our players is our top priority. We recognize the importance of understanding and appreciating the diversity within our team, and we are committed to fostering a culture of mutual growth, respect, and understanding.
If you have any concerns, please know that the form is confidential, and any submitted information is initially reviewed only by the welfare officer. You have the option to remain anonymous if you prefer, or you can choose to identify yourself and specify who you would like to discuss your concerns with.
At Brighton Rogues HC, your safety, well-being, and sense of value are our top priorities. We are here to support you, and we encourage every member to speak up if they have any concerns, no matter how small. Together, we can continue to build a club where everyone feels respected, understood, and safe.
