The sun was shining probably a bit too much for my liking! And we got a good warm up under our belts. All the talk was about showing aggression and not starting slowly!
Well in true BAC style we found ourselves 7-0 down with not much more than 5 on the clock. Missed first ups were the cause and `we spoke about not letting that happen again, credit to the boys it didn’t. We soon found ourselves on par due to the ever young BAC captain taking a quick tap and go and scoring from at least the halfway line! Con by Ali D.
We were starting to dominate play with solid set piece platform and some huge carries from the pack. Notably Aaron who won MOTM was bouncing defenders for fun. The backs were spreading the ball around nicely and Rory showed his class at 10 again with a perfectly weighted cross field for Alex so score. Con by Ali D.
By now the Clifton side were man marking our 12 and making it obvious by shouting it’s going to the bald guy again! this was creating space for us to exploit out wide. We won a penalty and decided to go for the corner, got a nice little drive going Clifton infringed but ref failed to blow his whistle, we went to go wide and they ended up under our post from an interception! Unhappy skipper! Aaron then with one of his trademarks carries scored taking a few defenders with him. Con missed. We went in leading and never looked back!! Clifton scored after the ball popped out of a dominant BAC scrum which again the ref was non-existent on the whistle. Again unhappy skipper. Rory finished off a fine display with 2 tries barging his way over for at least one of them.
Ali D apparently “scored” on the 5 meter line and also hit the post from straight in front, so I feel harshly adjudged to be writing this as DOTD! I got this for having the ball knocked out of my hands in the act of scoring then asking the ref for the penalty we were due for 9 being played, his response was your being penalised for lip. Harsh but probably fair!
All in all it was a great team performances from across the squad and we showed some real cohesion between backs and forwards.
Chris Chin managed 3 lineout steals without jumping and also a turnover! Was also nice to see Scotty on his birthday week for his once every 6 week day release!
We are now back in the black points wise which is a nice place to be. Credit to everyone involved there wasn’t a bad performance across the park.
Credit to Clifton who made a real fight out of it. Look forward to seeing them at our place for the return fixture.
