Match Reports from this Weekend

Mens 1s 10 - 3 Cardiff Harlequins

This week the Bombers 1s faced off against the Cardiff Harlequins at their new pitch in Bradley Stoke. Both Teams were out on the pitch early for a strong 40 minute warmup in preparation for what would be nearly 2 hours of lacrosse.

With the Bristol in black and Cardiff in blue the two teams faced off early with Bristol’s Ed Owen winning the first face-off for the Bombers. Both teams started strong but the Bombers attack dominated possession while putting Cardiffs defence through their paces. Kyle McHugh drew first blood scoring just 5 minutes into the game. Freddie Atkins put one past the man with the big net before Cardiff responded with a goal from on crease. Just before quarter time Atkins posted a BTB through the front door leave the score at 3-1 after the first quarter.

Second quarter was a long mixture of both offence and defence from the Bombers, Cardiff were struggling to get a good stint at offence as they were shut down hard by the bomber defence. Cardiff, rattled by goals from Sebastian Woof and Mchugh, called 2 timeouts to try and put the Bombers off balance. The Cardiff keeper made a great coast to coast effort before the Bombers called a tactical time out to save one of their own before ending the half at 5-1.

The 3rd quarter ensued with Ed Owen continuing this domination face-off. Kyle and Sebastian put a further 2 goals past the defence and goalie, before Cardiff’s 99 scoring a great sidearm goal. Celebrations were heard from the sideline as the small group of observers sat in pop up chairs jumped form their seats. Midfield was being stalked by Aiden Hood, the Bombers LSM, who turned it over in some valuable plays whilst Defender Hans Paulsson went to town on the gloves of the Cardiff attackers, who was the victim of the Bombers high pressure defence.

Going into the 4th the Bombers continued their roll scoring another 2 (Mchugh and Atkins) which was answered by another 1 from Cardiff. Will Stallibrass eventually put his, long overdue, goal past the Cardiff keeper. After nearly 2 Hours of lacrosse the match ended 10- 3 to the Bombers leaving them with a 2 game win streak.

Well done to both teams for a great game.
The Bombers are looking forward to playing Cardiff again in January.
Piers Crawford - 1st Team Captain

Mens 2s 4 - 1 Oxford Owls 2s

It was a slow start to the game with the first half ending 1-1, due to a combination of not taking our chances and some sloppy mistakes. Jason Parkash got the only Bombers goal , after he dodged from X and a tidy finish.

In the Second half, the boys sorted out their clearing and GBs. With long possessions of attack leading to two goals from Tom Pratt and one from James Hadley, whilst the defence stood strong to deny oxford any further goals
