Following lack of availability for league opponents Wotton, Dings 3XV kindly stepped in to provide a last minute home game this weekend.
Saracens started well in the scrum, pushing Dings back regardless of who had the put in. This feature continued throughout the game disrupting any attack Dings tried to muster and allowing a strong platform for the Saracens backs to work some moves.
Hard work in the forwards finished with good wide ball from the backs showcased a game that was great to both play and watch. John Howell finished one move with a magnificent run that cut through several defenders to put him under the sticks (noted here only for the record as noone would otherwise believe it happened).
Tries from Adam Rainey, Billy Jeanes, Mark Casely (x2), John Howell and Sean (Dylans Mate) and four conversions from fly half Alex McGuin who took time out his busy schedule to play a friendly and rewarded himself with a torn MCL.
Congratulations to our Man of the Match Richard 'Weasley' Hurst was all over the park creating turnover ball and being a general nuisance. Dick of the Day went to Chris Forster who slipped on fresh air but redeemed himself with a strong effort on the dirty pint.
Thanks to Dings for helping get a game this weekend and for running hard right to the final whistle, their efforts accumulating in a consolidatory try late in the game.
Special thanks to Sean for jumping straight into a tough game at 13, Andy the ref from Dings who stepped in last minute and did a job, and Reiss (Lumpy junior) who had a tough task of running the kicking T on all afternoon.
The 2XV are hoping to bring the same positive energy going into the league fixture against Ashley Down next weekend.
