Brixton United F.C. was founded in 1988 by a group of young men who felt that the BRIXTON [area] was often misrepresented and shown in a poor manner.We felt that through Sport,we could attempt to change this stereo type
Founder members were Paul Roye[captain],Neil Bailey,Neville & Raymond
Worrell,Cas & Bilal Bailey,Paul Brown,Pele Adeyemi,Patrick & Douglas
Kerr,Gary Knight,Richard Powell,Clive Hewan and Kenny Waller.
Our first season was in the Southern Area Sunday football league where,we competed in the First Division in 1989.Brockwell park,SE24 is where we played our Home matches for that season.After leading the Division for most of the season we ended up mid table.In our second season we won the First Division title.Our home ground that season was Larkhall Park,Courland grove,SW4. Since then,we have had numerous Home grounds,such as King George's Park,Kimber Road,SW18,Purley Way,Croydon and since 1995 SOUTHWARK SPORTS GROUND,37 DULWICH COMMON,SE21,7EU.
Since then the 80's,we have been to numerous leagues like the Southern Sunday,Crystal Palace Sunday,London & Kent Border and now The Metropolitan Sunday which we have rejoined in 2003/04.
Brixton United F.C. is now one of the most famous SUNDAY Football clubs in London.In 2006 Brixton United FC entered The FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup which is a National competition.The club has now National recognition.
Every League Brixton United FC has played in we have won major honours.Teams of note during our many years of existence are the 89/90 team,the Triple winning side of 96/97 managed by Felix Emanus[Phil the Great].The double winning side of 99/00,last but not least the Triple winning side of 05/06.The first team of the Metropolitan Sunday League 72 year history to do this.
We entered an Under 21 side into the London and Kent Border Football League in 2008/09 Managed by Junior Bannerman.
Currently Brixton United FC operate two teams who compete in the Metropolitan Sunday Football League.
