As this season draws to a close and with the AGM approaching, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to David Toone for his unwavering dedication and leadership in the role of Director of Rugby. After six seasons in the role, David has chosen not to stand for re-election, bringing an end to a tenure that has left a lasting impact on the club.

Since taking on the position in 2019, David has been instrumental in shaping the playing structure of the club, overseeing its growth, and ensuring that rugby at Buckingham has remained competitive, well-organised, and true to the club’s values. His relaxed but effective approach has been a hallmark of his tenure - always calm under pressure, always with the bigger picture in mind. He has led with a steady hand, balancing the demands of governance with the passion of grassroots rugby, ensuring that every player, from the senior squads to the youth teams, has had the opportunity to thrive.

Of course, this is not the last we will see of him. We’re confident David won’t be straying too far from the action, and we’ll be sure to find a few other ‘little tasks’ to keep him busy around the club! And if all else fails, we know we can always count on seeing him back at the club in another capacity - on stage rather than the sidelines - with his band entertaining us all.
