A successful Year 5/6 School Tag Event, which the weather could not beat, as the youngsters took to the pitches at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form College.
Organised by Burnley's Schools Sports Partnership taking on their compatriots from Pendle, six schools took part - Padiham Green, St John's Cliviger, St Mary Magdalene's, St Stephen's, Earby and Laneshaw Bridge, with 60 children taking part.
All schools played one another superbly refereed by Burnley RUFC - Howard Metcalf, Joe Haley and Martin Churchill. With the overall winners being St John's Cliviger, with second St Mary Magdalene's and third Padiham Green to make it one, two and three this year to Burnley schools.
However I'm sure the Pendle schools will come back strong next year, as this event grows in ability every year, so well done all schools.
Keep enjoying your Tag Rugby and anyone who would like to continue the sport outside school feel free to turn up at Burnely RUFC behind the Oaks Hotel on Sunday morning or contact the Community Coach Simon Finnan ( 07988122186 ).
Once again well done all the youngsters who performed really well and all looked to be enjoying it and most of all respecting the referees and their sportmanship towards one another whatever the result at then end of each game.
