This morning, We welcomed Garstang down to the praire playing fields to make the most of the space with a busy fixture list at the club. With the positive start to the year and the team starting to click, we really was up for this one.
Game under way for the first of 3x 15-minute half's seen Garstang really attack and puncture holes in Burnleys defence to end up at the end of the first half with 4 tries.
Firm chat at the break, the team went back and was told to put the pressure on, and that's certainly what they did .. from the kickoff, Burnley hunted them down, and hit the first reciever and with a counter ruck Burnley got the ball out for their first score.
Heads were up, and more and more tries came Burnleys way from dominated possession and really doing damage with the counter rucks and mauls.
With the result going Garstangs way in the first 15 ..Burnley walked away having the better of the 2nd 15 and now the final 15 minutes both teams wanted to go out on a high and thats certainly what happend ..bone crunching tackles from both sides..dominating runs and a mixture of equal tries from boths teams. The physicality in that last 15 minutes certainly makes you forget that these players are still primary school kids.
The match ended.. Steam came from the team. Blood was drawn and caked top to bottom in muck, I'd say a good morning at the office for the U11s team.
There is still plenty to work on with the ball handling and working the ball through the hands, but all in all, another impressive and developing progress from the team.
Player of match Ernie
Really made his presence with leading the team around him. Got stuck into everything he needed to be involved in.
Player of steel Thomas
Really read the attack well, and the line speed was on point, slowing Garstangs play right down. If they tried running a blind side ball Thomas was there to greet them with a tackle.
Squad:- Joey, Billy, Thomas, Tom, Jacob, Tommy, Ali, Owen, Joeseph, Penny, Alfie, James, Toby, Ernie & Oliver.
