Trafford MV were formed by some apprentices at an engineering company called Metropolitan Vickers in 1923 (hence the MV), older members will remember the club by the name Metrovick.This was changed in 1993( much in the same way Burnley changed from Calder Vale ) as Trafford was trying to promote the club within its more regional surroundings.The MV was as a mark of the clubs past history.Like ourselves they have a healthy cricket section as well as a strong Junior rugby section.They have hosted the All Blacks for training sessions prior to international matches , as well as hosting Pau from France prior to a European game at Sale.Their well appointed ground was renamed MacPherson Park in 1980 in respect of one of their long serving members Jim MacPherson .Burnley had several good matches in the mid 80`s with MV at the advent of league rugby , when they were noted for a strong mobile pack particularly when a young hooker who was to gain greater fame with Sale a few years later was playing Steve Diamond now Chief Executive at Sale Sharks.Currently Trafford are pushing for promotion as they have in previous years always noted for good back play the match should be a cracker.Any supporters travelling independantly can find the ground bt Sat nav at M33 6LR
