This game was effectively won at half time, but you wouldn't tell that to our opposition from Blackburn, Mill Hill St Peters.
Although 3.0. down they showed real character in the second half by not giving up on this game and it is something our new Richmond players must take into account with future fixtures at the West Lancs level.

Minutes later the visitors went close, the ball fortunately going just wide of Richmond’s goalkeepers Tom Shacklady's post.
The home side replied with a couple of efforts from the impressive Tom Corrigan and Golding, the visitors keeper on hand to make the saves, good attempts.

Although Richmond were playing some good football on the floor, the second goal came via a lofted ball out of defence by centre half Scott Taylor on 38 minutes.
The ball landing beyond the Mill Hill defender's and finding Pete Armitage who made the run into space on the edge of the six yard box.
Keeper Dawson ran off his line to cover the shot, but the Richmond forward out foxed the keeper, lifting the ball high over his hands and from an acute angle and found the back of the net.

Armitage could have made it three, minutes later, but didn't connect at the vital moment when he looked on to score.
Tom Shacklady in goal for Richmond had to be on his guard at the other end of the pitch, where he was required to make some good saves from threatening attacks from the visitor's.

As half time was looming, Richmond were awarded a penalty for a foul on Pete Armitage, the referees decision looking somewhat harsh from my viewpoint, but it was given non the less.
Captain and fullback Lee McNabb took responsibility for the kick and sent Dawson the wrong way to give Richmond an unassailable 3.0. lead going into half time break.

The visitors must have had a stern half time team talk, because they came storming into the second half with all guns blazing.
This is where man of the match Scott Taylor earned his reward, with an outstanding display to counter the threat from the visiting team.

The back four of Lee McNabb, Taylor, Lee Morton and Jack Marshall had to be at their best to counter more than several dangerous moments in the second half, Morton superb with his defensive heading.

Richmond had a three goal lead and could afford to let the opposition come onto them.
Richmond made the odd sporadic raid into the opposition's half when Conner Woods went close on two occasions and a Callum Thomson's effort from a free-kick by Woods just too high.

Richmond have some quality young players, the midfield of Jack Golding, Ian McKinty, Connor Woods and Callum Thomson all excelling in different part parts of the game.
Chris Jones who was unavailable for today's game to come back into the side.
Substitutes Mario Kramny and Michael Cooney kept the game tight when they entered the fray.

Manager Michael Clandon obviously happy with the result stating his players showed discipline and maturity throughout the contest, shutting the game down is not an easy discipline for these new players with so few games under their belts.
