Well Done Daisy!

Well Done Daisy!

Claire Bradley10 Feb 2022 - 19:04

More great news for Burton RFC as one of our U18 players, Daisy Aspinall, has been selected for the England U18 Talent Development Group.

Daisy is also part of the Loughborough Lightning Centre of Excellence and joins two of her team mates form the C of E in the group.

Daisy first played rugby when she was six and she joined Stafford Rugby Club where she played for the first 4 years and it was clear from those early days that she had some speed about her. Her Sunday mornings changed to athletics after she joined Cannock and Stafford AC and enjoyed her cross country and it wasn’t until she started at Denstone College that she restarted her rugby but this time with Burton RFC.

She went along to St Georges Park to train with a friend and caught the rugby bug again. The coach obviously recognized something about her as she was asked to join the team and she has played there since, starting with the U13s and moving through the U15s to join the U18s this season.

She represented Staffordshire County U15 team in 2019-20 season and like everyone else, missed out on the entire 20-21 County season due to Covid. However during this period Denstone College supported Daisy’s rugby development through one to one skills sessions, team training and providing video analysis to help her develop her awareness and understanding of the game.

All the hard work by Daisy and all the coaches who have helped her over the years has now paid off with her selection and she is looking forward to joining her team mates at the upcoming camps and international fixtures which have been scheduled.
