Want to get into Coaching?

Bury Town is always looking for more volunteers to get involved within the coaching of it's Community Section. Whether you have 10 years experience or none Bury Town is definitely the club for you!

What's involved?
You can become a coach or a manager. A coach's responsibilities will involve the planning, assisting or leading of training sessions. Coaches can also get involved within the running of teams on a match day.
A manager's responsibilities will involve:

  • Planning, assisting or leading of training sessions.
  • Organising team selection and taking control of matchday coaching.
  • Notifying your players/parents/guardians of upcoming fixtures and training details.
  • Notifying your opponents 6 days in advance of the fixture, with Kick Off time, location, referee and any other important information.
  • Updating FA Full time after fixtures; submitting certain match statistics and texting the result after the match.
  • Ensure the players learn in a fun and safe environment.

What Qualification's do I need?
To adhere to the club's high standards and the Charter Standard all coaches looking after a team within Bury Town's Community Section must attain the FA Level 1 Qualification. Bury Town will fund this qualification in return for 3 years of coaching the team. The FA Level 1 qualification will also involve a First Aid Course and Safeguarding Children workshop. The Level 1 course normally runs over back to back weekends with the 2nd being the assessment.

What support do I get from Bury Town?
Apart from the funding of the relevant courses and qualifications, we offer a great support network to help any coach develop and get through any situations. We have a number of officials who can help with admin, as well as having a number of highly qualified coaches who are able to help plan sessions and offer any mentoring to further develop any coach.

Why Bury Town?
We fund courses, encourage any keen coaches to take further qualifications, offer strong support networks led by highly qualified coaches, admin support and a pathway for any coach or player to develop to play/coach at a high standard.
