A rejuvenated Buxton

After a dismal week previous Buxton welcomed not only Darley Dale to the Silverlands but also New signing Jones for his debut. Buxton started very brightly and had the visitors on the back foot for the whole of the opening 10 minutes and deservedly took the lead thanks to a fine finish from Linnell-Bennett who was enjoying his new role in midfield. However this seemed to settle the visitors more than the home side and they soon drew level despite some solid defending by McCormack and Ulley the former in his first game of the season. Buxtons back four looked far more solid with Larman and Fearn completing the lineup, looking far more shapely and secure. This with the new midfield trio of the aforementioned Linnell-Bennett, Hird and Jordan Buxton looked a threat linking well and feeding the dynamic Webster upfront. With a little luck Buxton could have had a much closer score going into the half with a harsh penalty and a couple of missed chances.
Unfortunately for Buxton the early loss of McCormack and Ulley through injury and even after a superb finish from Larman moments earlier to pull one back for Buxton, Darley Dale looked to be getting the upper hand. Jones stepped into the breach at center back along side Linnell - Bennett to put in a relentless shift to keep the visitors at bay along side the Man of the Match Fearn who was tenacious to say the least at fullback.
Buxton were very unlucky not to be a lot closer at the full time whistle even after Webster finally got his season off the mark with a cool finish after striding away from the visiting defence after another fantastic goal kick from Sumner which was flicked on via Hird. The Buxton players should now be looking to get that first win showing they are quickly getting sharper and hungrier than ever after a sluggish start.
