Cadishead Rhinos very own Liam Byrne has gone on to sign for Super League outfit and current champions Wigan Warriors

After excelling in all aspects of his rugby league career from an early age, Liam's hard work and determination has paid off as he puts pen to paper and officially sign for Wigan warriors after a hugely successful trial period.

Liam's story can be tracked back to a trial for the North West Lionhearts tour to Serbia where, after another successful trial, Liam was selected as part of a 20 man squad to travel oversea's and play against the emerging nations of Serbia and Bosnia. The tour was a massive hit with the team winning both games and Liam having personal successes oversea's with his rugby league.

From the 20 men who went on tour to Serbia, Liam was then chosen to attend a trial for the England Lionhearts team, which again he excelled in, but this was just the start of Liam's flourishing career as he received a call from the Wigan Warriors U19's manager asking him to attend a trial for the Warriors. Unfortunately, in Liam's very first training session for the warriors U19's on his trial period he suffered a fracture to his forearm. This injury meant that he would unfortunately miss out on his representative honours for the England Lionhearts on their tour of the home nations.
Not to be too disheartened Liam carried on training, concentrating on his strength and conditioning whilst he recovered from his injury. After he had fully recovered he continued to shine during his trail with Wigan's U19's and got stuck into a tough preseason with the team which included going to an army camp before Christmas and 2 tough preseason fixtures against London Skolars and Championship side Swinton Lions.

The 1st official fixture for the 2017 season saw Liam take to the field as prop forward in a 34-12 victory over Widnes Vikings U19's.

When we caught up with Liam he told us "Its tough, the level of skill is a massive difference to what I'm used to, but I'm really enjoying it and things are really looking up".
Liam's continued successes, down to his hard work, fantastic attitude and determination to be the best he can be will see him go a long way further in the rugby league world.

Everyone at Cadishead Rhinos are proud of you Liam, keep doing what you're doing and we'll see you on the Super League pitch before long! Huge congratulations from all of us!
