It was The Western league 'A4 derby' as our sizeable contingent from table toppers Calne made our way to the 'Southbank' ,Corsham town FCs rustic but pleasant ground ,there was time for a quick pint in there friendly bar & a tasty cheeseburger inside the ground before proceedings began ,
Corsham started the brighter with successive corners which Calne defended well ,but then it was the visitors who hit their stride and seized control of the game as Jamal Chevolleau was causing Corsham havoc on the left with his pace and his opening shot just going wide ,Aaron Witchell put in a perfect cross to Harry Myles who's shot was well caught by Mark Billingsley in the Corsham goal ,Calne were now in the ascendancy with Jamal tormenting the hosts defence and forcing Billingsley into a couple of fine saves he was finally rewarded after picking up a throughball and toepoking the ball into the net to put the Lillywhites ahead on the stroke of half time ,
The 2nd half was mainly a scrappy affair as Calne dictated the pace of the game with both teams having half chances but Matt Bearne & Jamie Norman at the cente of the Lillywhites defence were not letting anything past them today ,the highlight of the game came in the 81st minute when Calne won a free kick and Nathan Davis shattered the net from 40 yards out with an absolute screamer to give the Lillywhites a well deserved 2-0 victory and as the Calne players left the pitch and into the dressing room with jubilant screams of euphoria and no doubt returning to Calne and painting the the A4 black & white as they went.
