Camborne looking to kick on!

Camborne looking to kick on!

Ian Coulson26 Jun - 08:34

Preparations off field have been going well before pre-season starts proper.

Camborne RFC are aiming to continue their upturn in fortunes following a 6th place finish on their long awaited return to the National Leagues last season.

Ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, Director of Rugby, Steve Larkins has already enhanced the squad with the high profile signings of former Cornish Pirates, Kyle Moyle amd Jack Andrew, as well as a number of local players looking to step up and impress at a higher level.

In recent days another eight promising youngsters have been added to the squad, eager to improve in a supportive and welcoming environment at the Rec.

Off the field Larkins and his team of coaches, headed by Tom Kessell and Chris Fuca, are benefitting from the advice and assistance of some of the wisest heads in world rugby.

Stade Francais coach, Paul Gustard & England U20’s boss, Mark Mapletoft, are longstanding friends of Tony Chapman, CEO of CLX Professionals, the club’s major sponsor.

Both have been keen to give something back to grassroots rugby and help Camborne with their strategy, organisation and on field planning.

Gustard will be in Cornwall on holiday in the coming weeks and will be taking time out to hold a series of coaching bootcamp sessions to pass on his expertise to the various squads at the club.
