Steve Larkins has informed the club that, very reluctantly, due to family and work commitments he is unable to continue to commit the time necessary to coaching Camborne and has decided to stand down as head coach with immediate effect.
As a club Camborne are sympathetic with Steve’s reasons and although extremely disappointed with his decision at this early stage of the season. We would like to thank him for his efforts and commitment to the head coach role for the last two years, during which the club gained promotion from the Western Counties, secured a healthy 5th position in South West One and won the Cornwall Knockout Cup.
With continuity vitally important this now gives the ideal opportunity for player and assistant coach John Griffiths to step up to the head coach position. John, who also wants to continue playing, has in recent years gained the RFU Level One and Level Two coaching awards and has considerable respect within the club. Dave Roberts (vice captain) will continue to assist along with backs coach Liam Chapple and centre Steve Kenwood, who this season has been working with the colts backs, will support Liam.
This is an exciting coaching team who are totally committed and focused in bringing success to the Cherry & Whites. We now need to get behind Griff and the coaching team and give them all our support and encouragement.
