Roddas Milk Cup Preview.

Next week the Cherry & Whites face the old enemy Redruth in our annual Boxing Day clash where both teams will be looking to lift the Roddas Milk Cup trophy.

This seasons match takes place at Redruth's Recreation Ground (2pm k.o) where they will be expecting another four figures crowd for one of the oldest continuous club fixtures in world rugby.

Despite a recent run of form which has seen the hosts taste victory just once in the last 9 outings the National 2 club will rightly go into the game as hot favourites on their own ground.

Camborne go into the match on the back of some good performances but do have a large injury list to contend with. The spirit in the squad is very good, with everyone giving 100% in both training and on match days. The lads are working well together and playing as a team despite frequent changes to the lineup as a bad run of injuries and availability issues has hampered them since the start of the season.

The pack in particular are in excellent form with Phil Angove working them hard and scrum and lineout time in training. It's not just the usual suspects who've impressed this season either. With several experienced County forwards in the pack you would not expect a 20yr old hooker turned flanker to be grabbing the headlines, but Jordan Nicholls has done just that.
Undaunted by the 4 league step up from St Just to Camborne Jordan has impressed coaches, players and supporters all season with his energy, stamina and ability, he covers so much ground on matchday's you'd think there were two of him out there. There's no doubt that the County selectors will be keeping a close eye on this young man next Wednesday!

In the back line the form of flying wing man Alex Ducker (19 tries in 15 games so far) and centre Declan Matthews (who's also in getting his name on the score sheet regularly) will also be of interest to the Cornwall coaches. Former Cornish Pirate Rhodri Mcatee is another who's been in superb form recently, his experience and versatility has proved invaluable for the Cherry & Whites.

One thing you can be sure of, whoever pulls on the Camborne shirt on Boxing Day will be giving 100% for the club and going all out to regain a trophy that we've not held for several seasons!
