Only 4 matches played in the month, with each team claiming a win and defeat

December was an interesting month for CUP FC, with each team only playing 2 matches a piece due to postponements and free weeks.

The 1st team started December with a defeat, 3 – 1 at home to Cambridge City Development in the Kershaw Premier on Saturday 2nd. This was followed by two weeks of postponements due to the weather, which made the Cass unplayable. The enforced break must have helped as they ended the month with a 2 – 1 away win at Sawston United on Saturday 23rd. The 1sts ended 2017 6th in the table.

The Reserves also began the month with a loss, going down 3 – 2 at Newmarket Town Reserves on Saturday 2nd, before a 3 – 1 home win at Witchford 96 on Saturday 23rd after two weeks without a match. The Reserves finished the year 9th in the Senior B table.

Notable contributions:
1. The 1sts scored 3 and conceded 4 in December – Dan (twice) and Nacer grabbing the goals
2. The Reserves scored 5 and conceded 4 in the month – Ollie, Ben J and a Ryan T hat-trick
3. Neither team claimed a clean sheet
4. There were 5 yellow cards for the 1st team in their 2 games, with Steve picking one up each match
5. The Reserves had the 3 bookings in their 2 matches
6. This season 23 players have played for the 1sts and 31 for the Reserves
