Introducing the Camelot Age Grade Volunteers Pathway

Introducing the Camelot Age Grade Volunteers Pathway

New for season 2022-23

To ensure the Rugby experience is the best it possibly can be for our age grade players we are encouraging all coaches and referee's working with our children to have the best possible knowledge set available.

We are therefore introducing the Camelot Volunteers Pathway. The first stage in this initiative sees us launch our Age Grade Volunteers Booklet. Over the coming weeks we will be adding additional resources alongside this to further help and support our volunteers.

The Booklet details what the club objectives are, what support the club will provide our volunteers and in return what our age grade players can expect from our volunteers. It provides:

  1. Links to the RFUs Training booklet - from where you can launch online course and / or book classroom courses
  2. Links to the RFU "Keep Your Boots On" YouTube resources channel.
  3. It acts as a quick and easy reference guide to help you identify which courses and training should be undertaken at what stage of the rugby pathway.

At this stage it is a soft launch, giving volunteers the opportunity to self-assess, plan, book and/or actually take courses in advance of the season.

Self-Assessment

We encourage all coaches and referees to use the off season to self-check which courses they have completed against where they are expected to be according to the pathway.

Previously attended courses and qualifications will be recorded against your individual RFU record which can be viewed in the Game Management System (GMS), Click Here to login.

Safeguarding

In addition, there have been some changes to our approach to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. In accordance with RFU guidelines,

New coaches and/or referees, those going into role for Sunday 04/09/22, should complete the following steps before starting to work with the children.

  1. Complete the Online Head Case Concussion Awareness, Introduction to Safeguarding & Play It Safe courses
  2. Have submitted there Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS) application

Existing coaches and/or referees who have been DBS cleared but have not yet completed any of the online Head Case Concussion Awareness, Introduction to Safeguarding and/or Play it safe courses, should complete these at the earliest opportunity; preferably in advance of the season and no later than 1st October 2022.

The Club Safeguarding Officer (SGO) at Camelot is Chelsea Riches who can be reached on 07887 530 867 and safeguarding@camelotrfc.co.uk .

If a new coach or referee joins your section, please inform Chelsea immediately so she can introduce herself and provide further information.

Club Policies

We ask that all coaches and age group volunteers read and familiarise themselves with the club policies which can be found HERE. These policies are only short-reads and cover the following important areas:

  • Clubs safeguarding children and vulnerable adult policy
  • Clubs child protection policy
  • Clubs equality, diversity and inclusion policy
  • Code of conduct for players
  • Code of conduct for parents, spectators, and coaches

Thank-you in advance for all your work and support in ensuring our offering is the best it possibly can be for our young players. I look forward to sharing further updates and progress either on or before volunteers season launch event, watch this space.
