Last week Hemel Hempstead (Camelot) RFC hosted local senior schools as they competed for the inaugural Camelot Cup Inter-schools Floodlit Competition, supported by RAM Rugby.
Longdean, Ashlyns and Hemel Hempstead Schools competed at school year groups 7, 8 and 9 across successive evenings, playing under Camelot RFCs newly installed floodlights.
Winners:
Yr.7 - Hemel Hempstead School (pictured).
Yr.8 - Longdean School.
Yr.9 - Hemel Hempstead School.
Following the trophy presentations by Director of Rugby Paul Maddison, the teachers from the respective schools were each presented with a bag full of new rugby balls, kindly donated by RAM Rugby.
Camelot RFC are working in cooperation with Saracens and the RFU, who have been delivering rugby training into Hemel Hempstead schools between September and January.
The aim of the competition is to forge links between Camelot RFC and local senior schools, offering access to Camelot RFCs newly installed floodlights and helping to grow participation in rugby union. It’s planned that the competition will be an annual event, with participation growing amongst local senior schools each year.
