Two postponed home fixtures in the Wirral Senior Cup and the league have been given new dates

Lairds' Wirral Senior Cup quarter-final at home to Mersey Royal has been arranged for this coming Tuesday (20 February) with a 7pm kick-off, while the league match against Droylsden which was postponed on Saturday has been rescheduled for Tuesday 5 March at 7:45pm.

The tie against Mersey Royal was snowed off last month, and the sides are now set to meet next week at the KRCT Stadium. An earlier kick-off time than usual for midweek fixtures of 7pm has been agreed.

Admission for the Wirral Senior Cup match will be £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.

Mersey Royal have won the West Cheshire League First Division in the last two seasons, and enjoyed great success in several cup competitions. They reached the final of the Wirral Senior Cup last year, but lost 1-0 to Capenhurst Villa, who had beaten Lairds in the semi-final.

Despite a turnover of players in the summer, they continue to be one of the strongest outfits on the Wirral and are currently sixth in the West Cheshire League First Division.

Lairds have lifted the Wirral Senior Cup on 12 occasions, most recently in 2021/22 for the first team's first piece of silverware under the 1907 name when Stuart Keir's team beat a Heswall side managed by Andy Cass 3-0 in the final.

Regarding the NWCFL First Division South fixture at home to Droylsden, a new date of Tuesday 5 March has been set, with kick-off at 7:45pm at the KRCT Ltd Stadium.

The usual league admission prices of £6 for adults and £3 for concessions will apply.

Droylsden last night moved into the play-off places, beating Barnton 2-0 to climb into fifth.

Lairds have only played once since the turn of the year - a 2-2 draw against play-off chasing Abbey Hulton United - and their next scheduled match is on Saturday (17 February) at home to third-placed Sandbach United.
