Stocksbridge Park Steels arrive at Stoke Lane in a bit of a dip. Following a disappointing season last year when the Steels were hovering around the relegation spots, they’ve regrouped and started this season superbly. Two losses and two draws in the last four has halted that progress albeit they still occupy the last play off spot. Alex Hardwick, who played for Carlton last season is in the goals for the visitors with seven in the league. The Steels have only lost twice away from home this year and have won half of their contests. They also won here last season so seem to enjoy their visits to Nottinghamshire.
Carlton are in a bit of a slump although form in their last four league games is actually better than their visitors but frustrating draws, especially at home are hampering any real push up the table at the moment. The early exit from the county cup in midweek told a familiar story of good chances not taken in front of goal. Returning players in the coming weeks, and possibly here should aid the recovery but the teams above are threatening to breakaway from the Millers and others around them in mid table so a win is really vital.
