Dunston won at Stoke Lane last year, Carlton’s last home league game of last season, and secured their spot alongside their hosts in the play offs. Both sides fell to Stockton during the post season so started this campaign hoping to be contesting at the top of the league.
Dunston are well placed to do that, currently sitting just outside the top five with games in hand, they demolished Consett 6-1 before a draw at Bradford Park Avenue last time out. They haven’t lost since 19th October and are the second highest goalscorer’s in the division, but have only won twice away from home albeit they have lost just once, collecting four draws.
Home draws for Carlton are stunting any upward trajectory at present but a draw away at Ossett last time out did represent a halt on back to back defeats but with the abundant of chances created, they perhaps should have taken all three points. The Millers are six points behind their visitors and really need a win here to close the gap on the top ten.
